Ouka Prefecture, quite possibly the most dense forest region in Naraka. Known for its various different types of wild life and the Senpu monks that live in conjunction with them in perfect harmony - its is a wonderous place especially for a traveling sage. The air is simply glistening with the dew of the morning, the delicate eastern breeze gracing travelers with a refreshing, natural kiss of the winds against their skin that makes it feel like the forest itself welcomes all with open arms and fortunate wishes upon their travels. Named after one of the famous waring clans from back in Naraka's savage age - it is believed that when the Senpu monastery rose up and started to erect temples and sanctums in order to protect and honor the purity of the forest and wild life within it; they became a strategic obstacle for the Ouka clan in their quest to defend against the imminently invading forces of Nobunaga and the Oda clan. It is said that horrible tragedy befell the Ouka clan, and they were utterly wiped out by the might of the Senpu monks however in order to honor the time that they had here, as well as repent for the horrors they had to unleash upon the opposing Ouka clan. The Senpu Monastery did not bother to rename the area - leaving it in their honor and focusing on the care of the forest. Nobunaga, decided to utterly steer clear of the region. For reasons yet unknown. This is still the opening distance into the prefecture, baring a tori gate with a particular kanji symbol at the top center post. The gate itself is rife with overgrown vegetation as well as some of the graves and shrines around. Legend have it every grave here is not simply a random placement. But that the Senpu monks destroyed the Ouka clan with such merciless prejudice. That the monks wept deeply for their opponents and the pain they must have suffered at their hand - and sought to give them respite into the next life almost immediately as they fell them.

"Born to blossom, bloom to perish" - 不幸の放浪者

She found herself in unfamiliar territory. Luckily the woman wasn’t alone, she shared the company of her teammates. The curiosity in her was strong, with looks and gazes she took in the scenery of their current location. This place too… was beautiful! Although it was a forest, the tori gate gave it a traditional touch. She only hoped this place was as peaceful as it looked like right now. The thoughts of the unknown lurking beneath or above them could be nerve wrecking. Although in her previous home realm it was something she wasn’t fazed by, it kept her on her toes and highly alert. You wouldn’t wanna wake up to any possibilities of danger.

Naraka could be something different, this wasn’t like back ‘home’. Who knows what could be hiding out there? She looked at her teammates, feeling slight relief she wasn’t alone but she hoped they could at least know what to expect a little. More so to make up for her lack of experience and preparations. For now she would live in the now and try to trust herself and her team.”So… now that we’re here. Where are we off to?” She spoke to them, expecting the ones who carried the map to inform her of the next destination.

The air around them began to twist and become denser, darker. Kirinji’s eyes shifted toward Izanagi immediately. There it was. The shift was in character was apparent to him because he had witnessed it so many times. From the sly grin pocketed away in the corner of his mouth, you could tell that it was what he wanted to see. A wave of nostalgia washed over him as he spectated. More times than not what followed next after this change was pure, nondiscriminatory slaughter in the most glorious fashion. And while many would find that terrifying, it brought back some great memories of the war. The tiny hair on his skin raised in excitement. That was the Izanagi he was accustomed to. Yes, he was quirky, he had mostly always been. But behind that—was a Demon many feared. Could they also feel the weight of death looming over their head? Assessing threat levels was an important trait to have and it would be problematic if they did not know any better. As he thought this he glanced over at the others to see their reactions. It was no surprise that Ko had picked up on it. The new member, Misaho, recognized the intent as well.

He was reminded of the words delivered by the Old Man at Lucky Dragon Casino. “To be able to end a battle without the need of weapons shows great strength.” Oddly enough, that sentence has stuck with him from the moment he had heard it. For most of his life, Kirinji has had the mindset of a warrior. To him, the quickest way to end a battle was with a weapon so powerful that it could not be trifled with. Yet, with his eyes fixated upon Izanagi as he spoke, he realized that there was a flaw in his logic. What could potentially have more strength than what this man before him has? That monstrous strength displayed numerous times war and war as his mere presence ceased any and all conflict. An example of what could occur was not even necessary. Everyone knew. Was this the strength the Old Man had spoken of? Yet even then there seems to be a foe.

It was fascinating to see the reactions of everyone, but what was even more interesting was the catalyst that caused it. It seemed the man had some contempt, or some sort of negative feeling, toward Izanagi. How could he not? Kirinji couldn’t blame him. The rollercoaster of emotions Sentou had experienced, in a short amount of time, could not be understood but it could be empathized with. Perhaps a conversation with him at a later time would be beneficial. Just to see where his mindset was and if Kirinji could be of any assistance. More importantly, at the moment, there was a greater task that required their collective attention. With that thought in mind, and Izanagi showing his true colors momentarily, Kirinji would tie the necklace band around the belt loop and position the jade stone so it was right over his right pocket. Soon after they’d move forward as Izanagi would remove his red gloves. Under it? Several fuinjutsu formulas Kirinji tried to decipher before Izanagi clapped his hands together. From it released a bit of distortion as Kirinji prepared his body and mind for what was to come next. As Izanagi came to the end of his sentence, Kirinji breathed in deeply and closed his eyes before he heard the words of the technique. A bright blue chakra engulfed the group and then suddenly they had dispersed in a manner similar to the Flying Thunder God Technique.

They had been dropped just on the border of Ouka Prefecture just as Izanagi had stated. Kirinji swiftly walked out from the group and began to glance around their immediate surroundings. While Misaho took in the beauty of the Ouka Prefecture, Kirinji was scoping out their surroundings for any immediate potential threats. He even extended the range of his chakra sensory to see if he could pick up anything. Only after ensuring there was no threat would he relax momentarily as he glanced around. His attention mainly gravitated toward the kanji symbol on the tori gate — “Wisdom”, the blue-haired man whispered to himself. He would then turn and look at the rest of the group as he took a knee removing his backpack and putting it down in front of his knee. Kirinji then began speaking in response to Misaho as he dug out the map that had been given to them.

“Before we go in, it’s probably best I tell you all that I found on the Ouka Prefecture in the library. Supposedly, this area is one of the most primitive areas in comparison to the rest of Naraka. During the time of Mikaboshi’s reign,” he glanced over at Kasami’s Rinnegan. “He decided to not modernize Ouka Village because it had some of the best agricultural resources in Naraka and wasn’t militant. However,” he sighed, “The path we are about to embark on is potentially plagued with some of the most savage bandits known as the Black Powder Bandits. They were originally a part of the village, but when the animal life started to become too savage, something happened between them and the Senpu Monks. These bandits can’t use chakra in a weaponized fashion, but they are known for their innovative incorporation of Black Powder explosions in their combat and defenses, hence the name. So let's make sure we keep an eye out for that. I know this place is beautiful, but we need to remain focused and asses out any potential dangers before they come too close.” When he said those last few words his eyes drifted toward Misaho and Eiji. The man wasn’t done yet. He had a lot more to say and the more he spoke, the more anxious he became. Not for himself or Ko, but the others. They were inexperienced, young.

“There’s more. The Ouka Monastery is home to some of the most vicious wildlife in Naraka. I didn’t have time to research all that we may encounter, but I found out that the most common wildlife here is known as Soshiki. They are hounds that resemble wolves and run in pacts. These ‘hounds’” he said with a distinctive tone, “are covered in a living cell tissue which is a ravenous parasite feeding off the wolf it has been attached to. Their goal is to infect and spread and when the wolf is killed the flesh will explode and try to attach itself to any living organism in the area. So remember to keep your distance at all cost or else it’ll attach itself to you and feed off you in order to regenerate. It’s a tissue so the most optimal method would be electrifying it with lighting causing it to become paralyzed and numb. After that,” Kirinji gestured over toward Ko with an open palm, ”We follow-up with a powerful fire attack that would complete the removal and purging process. We can bait the hounds to us and hit them with some lighting when they get close, but if I do that, you guys can’t make any sudden or swift movements or it’ll fry your brains. After that, we move out the way so Ko can clean up.” Kirinji glanced over at the others to see if they had any response or questions regarding all that he had said. Had they not he’d stand up and roll open the map and look past the tori gate and into the forest. ”We should get going. I don’t know how long this will take, but it’ll be better to travel during the day. It also might be best for Eiji to lead us.” He glanced over at the young boy with feminine features. ”That puppet of yours—it’s gargonite, right? I think you should have it walk in front of us for potential traps.” The whole time he’d be making eye contact with the boy, waiting for his response. If they were all aboard, he’d wait for Eiji to lead the way and the rest of them follow. Kirinji would position himself behind the group with clear visibility of everyone. As he stepped through the gate, he’d run his hand across the pillar etching a Flying Thunder God Seal into the gate. Had anyone been watching, they’d see a light golden kanji glowing that would gradually fade away in brightness before camouflaging with the gate.

"Ikkigai"

=The words seemed to echo almost the moment that he had come into existence there in the destination that they had been targeted to arrive at. Ko appeared in the subsequent blue flash from Izanagi's technique with handseal raised and moving the opposite direction from Misaho and Kirinji. It was evident that he was not a stranger in this by far - in operations dealing with uncharted or generally unsurveyed areas it was common place for the number two man in a point-leading basis of formation to cover and clear the part of an area that was not being looked at by the original lead. Otherwise if everyone came into a room for instance, looking to the left one after the other - they would miss the threat waiting on the right. So this is as he acted in reflex falling in line as naturally as if this had been a consistent pattern all along. However what he was doing here went much much further than just looking with one's eyes. He felt much more at ease here...if it made any sense. Somehow miles and miles away from the designated last bastion that was Mebu Castle Ko felt much more...himself; and with that came a confidence and focus that he ahd not fully had a grasp on while at the castle. It had been a moment since Ko really got to do much of anything, when they were at Kagane he was fresh out of Tatsumi's clensing treatment, he'd not had much room to engage the ice user - Ai Yuki, and the issue in Genichiro's casino was short lived. Perhaps it had also been a reason that he had engaged so much with the monks back at the castle. Ko had undergone a very visible change - had it gone forgotten by everyone else since the time that they had left Kagane. And on top of the changes after Tatsumi's treatment there was also the time that he had to train in private at Kiyoshi's as well as between the travels. It was one thing not yet getting the chance to know his enemy, but another entirely to have so much untapped about himself that he'd not gotten to know either. The technique that he used was one that far before hand the son of Mikaboshi had taken advantage of while he was under the hazing effects of his miasma - it had turned Sentou's scorch release into naught but steam back at the temple. However that was not only a far weaker unrefined version of it, but it was being utilized by Ko in a state that he was nothing more then a wild animal. Doubtful in his current state a foe would risk the reprisal of a redo. As he set the handsel up at eye level he would close his right eye and a pulse would emerge. This pulse would travel through the woods down a distance and seem to have an ethereal eye - hardly visible to the naked eye at the center of the traveling pulse wave. This was Ko using a variation of the "third eye" technique in conjunction with his Ikkigai - his sharingan technique that could blur the lines between illusion and reality much like Izanagi but on a much lower level so not to risk the inevitable blindness. He used it to get a detailed view with his sharingan of everything down the ways in he forest that could have possibly been waiting for them, and after a moment he lowered his hand and opened his eye to find that there was nothing. "Clear." he confirmed before returning back to them while Kirinji answered Misaho and inevitably, everyones question to the matter. The plan was sound - and as far as the formulation of such Ko need not do much to show that he was paying attention - that much would be apparent as he stood close at hand looking around to make sure he caught any sudden shifts or motions around them. The ground beneath him started to move and as a result move him as well, he stepped back for a moment only to find that a gigantic insect - that looked like a mix between a tape worm and a centipede had been his footfall for that time that he had been there and had decided to remove itself from beneath him. His brow raised at the sheer size and oddity of the specimen when he realized looking around him that their presence had disturbed a litany of insects of the same size and varying levels of oddity. That same centipede like creature crawled up a tree with its wide body and wrapped itself around it like shrink wrap, coiling there against the tree as its orange and black body started to camouflage with its bark. "We should probably do well to watch what we disturb too. Never know what wildlife could be toxic or otherwise." he added between the lines up till the closing of the brief in which Kirinji had mentioned the puppet that Eiji had. "I remember you are a great mechanic and skilled in building Mr.Kiyoshi, I was wondering if sometime you could help me improve on my puppet designs and ideas. I want to be useful and less of dead weight but I still need to grow a lot. I think this is something that could help." the words echoed in his head again from back at the castle - and he had been looking at that thing that he had been running around being weird with, especially back at Kiyoshi's manor and judging from its construction and chakra signature it was certainly Eiji's. But a puppet struck him as odd...no puppet strings, yet it moved, no chakra strings from Eiji no semblance of wood design nor any alterations to cause it to respond with anything otherwise. It was a blank slate - a mannequin for all intents and purposes. Ko stood there with his hands in his pockets looking back over his shoulder at Kirinji when he mentioned such and then panned his gaze over to Eiji. His tongue pressing in boiling contemplation at the roof of his mouth as his gaze focused for a moment before slowly casting away with a scoff. He'd love to hear the reaction and resulting enthusiasm of that one.=

As Eiji's nerves began to set in more and more for the upcoming journey while they listened to Izanagi talking to them, he would suddenly feel a nudge from his side before turning a second to look over and see Sentou who had on a very stern face while looking at him. Sentou's face reminded Eiji of one of his first mentors, it was a face telling him not to fuck up and do better and remembering this face though this was not Sentou's intention nor was his face meant in this way it cause a cold sweat to go down Eiji's back at he nodded nervously at Sentou before turning back to Izanagi who was still speaking. After a moment Sentou spoke up asking an important question about the necklaces, however; for whatever reason Sentou's words and questions towards Izagani elicited a different response than Eiji expected from the once very kind man.

The feeling of cold water being dumped on Eiji came forth as his attention had been more centered on Sentou than Izanagi when he was asking Izanagi questions. He would turn to see the man who seemed similar in looks but different in almost every other aspect at the moment, the nerves that were running wild earlier became more vicious at this point causing Eiji to let out an audible gulp before Izanagi seemed to calm down and explain the get out of jail free cards that were the necklaces. After Izanagi's speech, he showed his hands to the group with mysterious seals all over them which after a flash of light would have moved the group to another location being the Ouka prefecture.

When Izanagi moved them Eiji was startled but immediately became immersed into his own mind and began thinking hard on the words of Izanagi, *Its going. To test. EVERYTHING, that you are.* These words floated around in his head as began to think about what Izanagi meant, he thought the obvious would be that it would test them through life-threatening events and scenarios that would force them to grow or die but the way he said it made Eiji feel like there was more to this. Much more and as he was thinking and talking to himself sudden laughter appeared behind him. Sinister, wicked, and obnoxious laughter, Eiji knew exactly what the laughter was coming from.

Turning around within his own mind he notice the black formless being that was Imperious grinning at him as if something amusing was happening in front of him and his laughter indicating that Eiji was a fool but to Eiji, this was nothing new. Imperious would occasionally mock him when he began to think or as Imperious would tell him to overthink, and it irritated Eiji to no end because Imperious usually knew the solution but would only give Eiji tips and hints to test him and toy with him at the same time. What would Imperious say this time? What would he do? Eiji had no clue but before he could continue his thoughts he was pulled away bit by hearing someone speaking to him directly in reality. This was when Kirinji directed a question at Eiji about his puppet but before he responded he became curious as the last time anyone had seen Imperious he was nothing but a mannequin and at that time even Eiji did not know what he was made of or how he was made. So how did Kirinji know? This bothered Eiji more than anything else but seeing that he asked Eiji a question, Eiji would return it with his own, "How did you know what the puppet was made of? I haven't told anyone and I myself just found out not long ago?" His voice showed distrust towards Kirinji with a hidden bit of fear behind it, he was not sure of how to respond to Kirinji's question until after he answered this. He wanted to believe Kirinji was a true comrade but the only other person who would or should know about Eiji's puppets would be the puppet master of the Burning Dawn. So how would Kirinji know it was completed at all or even its materials. Eiji was truly worried because no one else seemed to know or even question him about or remember the puppet incident in Kiyoshi's village, so knowing the material which he only learned more about later from Imperious and his own battle with the puppeteer from the Burning Dawn was sketchy at best.

The light faded from beyond her eyelids and yet Kasami stood there among the trees a frozen statue. Yet she wasn’t there in fear, but serenity. She’d been delivered from Mebu Castle to a haven of lush greens and as soon as the smell of dew and moss hit her nose she found peace. Her head tilted back, eyes closed, as Ko and Kirinji determined whether the area was safe or not, and she just breathed. The simplest of things and yet it helped her so much to calm her nerves. This was paradise for her. Raised among the Nara as one of their own and working every day in the forest , studying and nurturing the unyielding bounty beneath the canopy of trees. There was of course the twinkling anxiety in the pit of her stomach that she could not simmer with the inhalation of wet flora, but it was enough for her. Kasami was never very good when it came to anything sensory further than a few yards away from her and wouldn’t be of much help to them in that moment. Instead she just focused on listening where she could, and blocked out the soft chimes of the glass bulbs on her hair draped down her back.

Ko gave the all clear and Kirinji also seemed satisfied with the current state of their surroundings, as he started to brief them on his findings in the library. She’d also done some reading, but they were more or less just situational necessities at the present moment. Most of what she read was about what manner of beasts they could run into. Key weaknesses or desirable parts to harvest, a wide range of things. By now she’d opened her eyes and gave Kirinji her attention as she listened, and when he mentioned Mikaboshi and looked right in her eye she couldn’t help but roll both of them. Her eye immediately started to give her that nagging irritation anytime it came up, almost like the damn thing was sentient and was acknowledging the attention it was getting, but she was sure by now that it was just a subconscious tick. Or at least she hoped. As soon as she rolled her eye she started aggressively rubbing at it and grit her teeth, glaring at Kirinji for a moment because he probably knew better, as she walked off to some privacy on the side of the group. It would seem rather odd to a few of them but for Ko and Kirinji who she’d at this point spent the most time around, they’d understand.

She was still listening and just biding her time while her little ticks got themselves worked out, but definitely noticed when it came time for Kirinji and Eiji to speak to each other. Kirinji made mention of his puppet and the material it was made of and Eiji answered him with another question. Kasami decided to join them again, her eye a little red from the aggressive rubbing it was getting, but she seemed completely normal otherwise. ”At this point, as much as you seem like you want to keep your secrets, you’re a part of the team and we need you. You didn’t deny it, so just help us out and have your whatever thing walk at the front of the group.” She wasn’t very familiar with puppets. She looked at Eiji and offered him an awkward smile. ”I’ll watch your back. I promise. And definitely as Ko said watch what we disturb, that bamboo when we first got here was toxic to inhale when it had caught fire.” She looked at Eiji, who was there with Sentou when that happened, and looked at Sentou who had made that happen. Warning him with her eyes, but it was also jokingly with the lightness in them. Picking on him rather, because what came after that was for him to make it worse rather than just stand on the air at a higher elevation to keep out of the smoke. She liked to think of that and laugh about it. ”I couldn’t help but to pour myself into books of beasts last night as well, but we’d be here all night if I recounted every entry I found. If we run into it and I know anything, all of you will as well. Let’s hope there’s no need of it.

Although the beauty the forest had, it wasn’t to be forgotten they weren’t here for a peaceful walk. There’s no telling what follows after being summoned here. Her other teammates immediately observed and scanned the area to ensure the safety of the group and clearance. After some time Ko confirmed that the area was clear, with the other also being satisfied with not being able to detect any threats. The anxiety Misaho felt was unbearable, despite always being familiar with risky situations or risky surroundings she knew that her experience from back home was nothing compared to what she would need to go through. She looked at the group one by one, what is going through their heads right now? Up until now, she was only able to go by her first judgments of the situation, her own interpretation. For Misaho, the way they were described and what she took from them were based on the small interactions she had with them. They all seemed experienced and fearless. Judging by some of their looks they all seemed anxious and fearful. Her anxiety only worsened by their looks. Their expressions only illuminated the gravity of their situation. This was also displayed in the tone of Kirinji’s voice as he answered her question but also voiced the plan towards the whole group. Just like the kunoichi suspected, they were definitely not alone in this huge forest. Because it seemed this forest had savage bandits who still roam around the place despite their past plague. As if that wasn’t bothersome enough there were wolf-like hounds who are covered in living cells that survive by feeding off any organism they come in contact with. Although there weren’t any more known threats revealed she felt that these weren’t the only ones lurking in the dark. After all, Ko managed to detect a weird insect beneath them as well. Mentally, she agreed with him. There’s definitely more than that came from. ‘Yeah… fuck that, these hounds are already petrifying now there are insects too?! Yuck.’ A panicked whiny voice wasn’t able to stay hidden inside of her mind, there wasn’t any telling to a difference to her composed and tranquil body language or barely a change to her resting expression. But her eyes hid the facade that she was ‘unfazed’ in any way, her eyes exposed her fears.

Despite the fact she held huge concerns as to how this could progress up till the future of their journey, she also held high hopes that this plan could work. Truthfully that’s what she made herself believe to block out her intensities. She made a note to herself to stay close to the group, and not stray too much to the front or fall behind the group. While her focus was on Kirinji as he prepared them all for the journey, her attention shifted back to Eiji when the question and suggestion followed that his puppets should follow upfront for them. Only for Eiji to question Kirinji’s knowledge about his puppets, also showing some distrust towards him for knowing something that was supposedly a secret. She was taking in the group dynamic, watching them interact with each other as it seemed that while they had been together for some time things still remained unknown to them about each other. But she also noticed the different relationship roles everyone seemed to have with each other. Izanagi definitely didn’t miss on his description of Kasami, the heart of the team. From the tense question Eiji had, Misaho was sure this could worsen the intensiveness. But Kasami made sure to convince him to use his puppet, with the promise of watching his back.

Her eyes once more took in the scenery of this place, although this wasn’t to admire anything. She was curious as to what else held toxins, these plants are also unfamiliar to them and quite frankly they were kind of unsettling to her. Not knowing what they hid or what they are, were enough for Misaho to feel discomfort. They were in the clear for now, but for how long? It was important she paid attention to details and roam as cautiously as possible. She wasn’t in the mood to attract any more dangers. Now that they would travel by day, she wasn’t sure what to expect by night either. Would there be different creatures by night? What was the activity of the forest by night? All these questions she assumed no one else probably had an answer for or they would’ve told them by now. So she kept silent, wondering if she could learn more of any of the books she took with her about this place. The first place and chance that allowed her to go through them wouldn’t by any upcoming moment. Perhaps by night, but she didn't think it was wise enough to do so. With no further comment, she positioned herself in the middle of the group when they would start walking.

”Clear.” — music to his ears as he responded in a similar fashion. It gave assurance that the area was clear since something could be missed with just one set of eyes. Kirinji began explaining his eyes had rolled over toward Ko’s direction when he had mentioned wildlife, and as he did that, he had caught a glimpse of Misaho’s worried expression. His eyes first focused on the man himself, but then followed his gaze toward the odd-looking insect, which appeared to be a combination of two insects. The blue-haired Uchiha made a slightly disgusted face before continuing. ”Yeaaah, definitely be careful of any of those things.” he said he voice tinged with caution. Kirinji continued speaking while his eyes focussed on the centipede climbing up the tree before it camouflaged with the bark. ”It also might be a good time to mention that Kasami and I are carrying healing syringes given to us by Kiyoshi. So if ever the situation arises, just look for one of us.” By the time, he had finished speaking he was glancing around again this time searching for any insects. In his mind, Kirinji recognized that this was another threat on their list they need be wary of. And it seemed to grow every second. Right now, it had bandits, wild animals, wildlife, and threats they probably had no idea about. Oh!—and not to mention the New Burning Dawn. They could very well sit around, discuss every potential threat possible, but that would be fruitless. Not only did they not have the time, but even if they did, it would be pointless due to too many unknown variables. They would have to empty their minds in order to push forward. They would have to become shapeless, formless .. like water. This does not mean removing fear. Fear was important. They simply needed to get moving. It was why Kirinji had hoped that the young man would move with the plan instead of receiving a response that left Kirinji lightly shocked.

Kirinji tilted his head toward the young man with feminine features. His expression clearly projected bewilderment with a hint of “Are you dense?” He didn’t say it out loud, even though he wanted to, but it would’ve been too rude. The blue-haired relic instead responded with, ”What an odd question to ask..” Truthfully, Kirinji had hoped that the young shinobi had been astute enough to connect the dots. Kirinji was unlike the rest of the group in the sense that he was much older. He was not from their era. This much had been known by the majority of the group outside of the newly joined woman. The Uchiha was from an era that was consumed by war and it was there, where he had met Izanagi. This was not explicitly stated, but it would’ve been clear with the interaction back at Mebu Castle between Izanagi and Kirinji that they did have some history. That was painstakingly evident. From that, it could be assumed that maybe, just maybe, Kirinji had heard of Naraka, of Oni, before. Perhaps even have fought against some before his time here. This much could’ve easily been assumed or deciphered, yet it was not. His confused expression clearly painted with disappointment as he replied, ”I’ve been around long enough to know gargonite when I see it.” His facial expression was similar to that of “Come on, now..” By that time Kasami had spoken up and he had glanced over toward her, noticing the red in her eyes. The Rinnegan was bugging her. However, he did not point it out and he did not stare at it to make her uncomfortable. Near the end of her sentence of Eiji helping them out, he reverted his eyes back onto him and gestured with his hands toward the pathway, hoping he had the capability of doing such. After all, he hadn’t done anything else thus far.

Kirinji was also surprised the hear that igniting bamboo was toxic. He wouldn’t have expected something like that. Then again, he hadn’t expected Naraka to be like this either. Kirinji had always thought that with Izanagi leading, the world would know peace. Yet that wasn’t the case. It seemed that there was no escaping conflict, regardless of the era. By now, he had hoped they were walking down the path being led by Eiji and Kirinji would be positioned behind everyone with his head on a swivel. They had a long walk, so it was important to have some conversation brewing in order to ease the tension. He was happy to hear that Kasami had been reading. In a world where they all know frightening little, the more questions they asked and the more books they read the more information they would gather. Information that could prove to be crucial in dire moments. After that, it all comes down to sharing the knowledge with the rest. Which was why it was odd that Eiji would ask such a question. Kirinji wanted to move on, he truly did, but it just lingered on his mind. Why was he so secretive about it? There is no secret that Kirinji is frustrated with the young man. He’s failed him twice. First, in the combat sequence against Eien where he used lethal force, and then, at the temple, where he was hopelessly corralled by a snake. Would he disappoint again? Only time would tell. However, he would continue to keep an eye on him. There is something off about that boy.

As they moved at an appropriate pace forward, he noticed that Misaho was somewhat near him it prompted him to recall her worried body language and expression. He wanted to reassure her, but didn’t know how exactly to begin the conversation until he had realized he never properly introduced himself. ”Hey Misaho,” he called out to her. Had the woman looked to his right she’d see the blue-haired man smiling warmly at her. ”I realized I never introduced myself. I’m Kirinji.” The man would continue speaking in a charismatic tone and a warm tone. It was one thing that Izanagi and Kirinji had in common. A charismatic personality when needed and the face to go with it. More times than not it would be used against opponents, lulling them into a false sense of hope or safety. But, used creatively, it can also be used not against but for allies as well. ”I’m happy that you’re joining us. You appear to be exactly what we needed.”

Theoretically...

Ko could understand to a degree why it is that Eiji would be skeptical about the fact that Kirinji knew about the make of his puppets. But it was only that...in theory that he could understand. Given his past inclinations Ko would have been the type that would keep things in the bag as well...hell, he was keeping skills and abilities in the bag right now between them but that was for a different reason entirely. In his previous work as an ANBU he was simply accustomed to the fact that if you could complete the mission without letting foreign co-ops know what skill set you had to offer, then you did. Best that they dont know in case the next contract puts you on opposite sides at that point. That however, was where the theoretical part would end. Because the fact of the matter was that this was more then just a foreign nation coop, even if they survived and went back to their old lives it was evident that the relationship they would forge from getting through this together would be a unique one. Not to mention there was the question as to whether they could complete their mission without reaching too deep in their bag - to which the very evident answer was no...it would be revealed anyway and was very likely that it was already revealed to the Burning Dawn, they too had a puppeteer after all. Ko had known for a while, and unlike Eiji's inclination may have lead him to believe Ko had been paying attention and drawing the lines for a while - especially back at Kiyoshi's but he didnt bother to say anything. He didn't think too much towards it, desensitized from weird mixes of clans and expertise since ANBU typically cultivated an environment where such things were common...even if it was weird that a member of the Sarutobi clan have puppets and yet seem so...novice with them. Ko had been watching the two and started to chew at the side of his lip as they conversed - because he did however know it was an oddity that he knew about the material. However, he had something that none of the other members of the group had in likeness to Kirinji. The eyes of the Uchiha, and where as he wondered if Kasami in all her given doujutsu prowess would have noticed what he had - he didnt bother to speak on it at all otherwise..not only did it not effect him, but it could prove to be nothing but beneficial to the team...for numerous reasons - some darker then others. . . but that was another thing ANBU life cultivated in spades. They would have gone on and Ko would say not a word - simply let it play out one way or the other naturally between the two - perhaps something of a respect or understanding between them would bloom from some part of it, though when he noticed Kirinji's expression as to the toxic bamboo Ko would tilt his head and lick his teeth at the thought - interjecting: "Yeah...I was thinking about that retelling Kasami let me in on back a while ago. Red bamboo..I have a theory on that. It seems Naraka has plenty of two things...living plant life - and bloodsoaked history. My guess? The red bamboo has soaked in the blood of battles or ecosystems long past, and burning blood gorged plants may cause that effect. Just a theory but I wager its probably a good guess. That in mind if its true - then its likely that all of the insects and animals have gotten a taste of that blood or plants that have, blood is literally part of the ecosystem which assumes to say...that even the bugs here are Oni in a way." =That being said he looked about and noticed that behind the gate was nothing but naked plain, grass and plants all about but further up was a stone road - if not a bit worn and overgrown. That being said he wouldnt bother waiting for Eiji, but he instead would go ahead and get a head start walking along. Ko was the type that was extremely set in reality when it came to things like this and the reality of the matter was that until he showed otherwise Eiji was either extremely cautious, hesitant, and meticulous when it came to having information before even attempting to comprise a plan for success....or a coward. Both were similar sides to the same coin that would lead Ko to the conclusion that waiting for him to lead could take a moment unless he proved him wrong, which was more than welcome. So he was already walking forward - be it at a brisk pace, more than welcoming Eiji to cut him off and take point. They had a good view ahead of them through the forest. Everything seemed about as normal as a forest in Naraka could - and off ahead into the distance he could see the path winded up ahead over a hill. As he moved he glanced over at Kasami, not a stranger to her taking a breather to get her head in check with that eye but still somewhat concerned for how much she was rubbing at it and seeming to have some conscious aversions to it. He spoke his concern silent, but very apparently and intentionally in the facial expression he made towards her - as he kept his hands in his pockets stopping periodically along the way so that the rest could follow along or overtake him at their own leisure as they spoke among one another and continued on.

As Eiji waited patiently for Kirinji's response but before he responded Kasami chimed in first. Her words were meant to be reassuring but only worried him considering the friction that had been going on between them for some time now. He thought about this before Kirinji responded, but his answer left him with a bitter taste in his mouth. It was as if he was speaking the truth but also avoiding the subject. It was more annoying because at the time they saw the incomplete puppet it looked like nothing more than a skeleton without any craft nor work, no metal applied at the time. Eiji only figured out how to refine Gargonite after speaking with Imperious and only got it much later through Imperious. He knew that whether he pressed the issue or not the team would only look at him in the wrong so it did not matter at the moment.

As Ko began to set off first Eiji sighed in annoyance before making a single hand seal and summoning forth what looked like a suit of armor that covered his body. The suit of armor-looking thing was one of his puppets as he moved forward without saying a word to anyone else. He would continue to think on the matter while moving to walk slightly in front of Ko. He felt less trusting of his teammates but would rather get through this ordeal and see what they do before showing his distrust. Anyone seeing him move would only know that he avoided talking to them more and Kirinji and Kasami would assume that it was because of his conflicts with Kasami previous and him now attempting to rectify it.

The puppet he was wearing was not Imperious but a different one which was outfitted with several weapons, all the weapons were covered in the mysterious poison he got back at the Mebu castle. It was made of the self restore garonite and meant to protect him though he had a few tricks up his sleeve, even finding a way to give it some ninjutsu to use in battle.

]Kasami kept quiet for the most part as they started to walk down the path, but she wasn’t a stranger to the cold shoulder she’d received from Eiji. Quite honestly, it didn’t confuse her- people didn’t make sense all the time, but it did irritate her a little. Kasami tried her best to keep everyone on their team together, but Eiji had always been the toughest to smooth things over with despite all she’s tried to do to accommodate him. Even despite how uncomfortable and irritated he made her sometimes. All the efforts she’d taken to protect him. In Kagane, in the casino. All the energy she’d wasted trying to include him or make conversation. The care he didn’t deserve that she gave him regardless of whether he was their teammate or not. All life was precious right? Well… now she wondered about that. She said she’d watch his back but if the chips fell the wrong way, maybe it was a loss she’d take. He wasn’t worth risking her life for if he couldn’t even spare her a single thank you, was he? Were any of them really worth that, if it would put the one thing she cared for more than her own at risk? At that time she felt like they were. Less Misaho because she had just met her, but Kirinji did. He hadn’t given her any reason not to feel that way and she felt that they had a pretty strong bond for only recently meeting. But she could be wrong.

Her eyes shifted to Ko, who was now behind Eiji that had for some reason put himself in harms way, armor or not, instead of a puppet. She shook her head and as she walked she formed a hand seal. Smoke followed and from the smoke two clones of herself went bolting in opposite directions. One went behind them toward where they came from, slowing its pace to fall behind them a decent bit. The other took to the trees and went forward, mindful of its surroundings and treading with more care than even its original ever had in her entire life. The redness in her eye was dying down and she offered Ko a smile if they exchanged glances so he would know that she was fine. If Eiji hadn’t put himself at the front of them with potential traps on the ground she’d have tried to go speak to him, but instead she just hastened her pace a little bit and stopped next to Ko, keeping close to him but not too close. She enjoyed the beauty of the forest next to him in silence, but she was also watching and listening for any threats.

Sharp ears, fixated eyes, and a steady but guarded pace were something she held on to. It would only be a matter of time for them to remain safe and clear of any potential threats, luckily she wasn’t the only one who needed to keep an eye out. She was used to being wary of her surroundings to a certain level, but back then she only did it for her own safety. Now she traveled in a group, something she still had to grow accustomed to. From what she’s seen from their earlier interaction it was clear that they all had different bonds in their team, not everyone was at great odds with each other and not everyone trusted each as equally as Misaho assumed they would be. The woman had no experience of ever being in any sort of group, she’s been alone for the longest. But if she could dig deep within in memories she would recall the relations of her fathers at home. Wouldn’t those that followed his orders form a team? They were all loyal towards each other but mostly towards her father. There wasn’t anything they wouldn’t do for him, he was the man in the chair after all. Perhaps, that wasn’t the right description, they weren’t necessarily a team but they were his workers. She couldn’t help but wonder about how long they would have been a team and she wondered if all teams had these types of dynamics. She also realized that some were around much longer than others, it was clear by the knowledge and experience they had.

During the interaction of the three; Eiji, Kasami, and Kirinji she noticed Ko already made his way to the front with no hesitation or any fear imprinted on his face. He wasn’t planning on waiting on a confirmation of the plan, unlike the boy with the feminine features who was obviously anxious about this whole journey and possibly stressed by the secret reveal of his abilities. It wasn’t until he saw Ko already made his way ahead of that he gave in with annoyance. Now when she heard the mention of a puppet she wasn’t expecting this type of puppet, one that was formed as armor. She watched him walk off to the front as he distanced himself from them, she guessed that their conversation really didn’t sit well with him. It made her slightly curious as to why they got along the way they did, but she wouldn’t act on her curiosity because it wasn’t the time for stuff like this. She assumed she would get to know the team later on.

When the two it seemed that everyone was set to go as they followed behind. Misaho positioned herself in the middle of the group and followed after them in silence. Things could get hectic from now on, but she felt relief that they brought healing syringes along with them. If she were to get hurt there would at least be something that could lessen the pain, although she was worried if that was effective if a parasite managed to attach itself to her figure. That was a situation she’d like to remain fictionary in her mind as just a ‘What-if’ scenario. The thoughts of the possible pain were enough to put Misaho back in her worried state, but she tried to mask it as best as possible and pretend as if it wouldn’t faze her. Mostly because she wanted to convince herself to near fear anything up to the point she wouldn’t be able to function normally. And so she made herself seem controlled and unexpressive on the outside. After some time when the group moved at an appropriate pace, Misaho heard one of her teammates calling out to her. Her head moved towards the right, where the voice came from to see it was Kirinji. Like most of them, she hadn’t had a conversation with him yet. Mostly because she only casually introduced herself in general but not one on one. She politely returned a smile as she greeted him back. “Nice to meet you Kirinji.” By now she would walk aside from him as they spoke. Her own tone was more composed but not in a frigid way, she was calm but there was still a warmness present. The warm tone wasn’t something she’d usually have, but she was in a different place right now where she could trust people and bond with them. At least that’s what she was told by The Tengu, who was the first person she trusted after all these years and wasn’t planning on letting down. “I’m happy to be here. I hope I can live up to that expectation, it’s a fresh start for me after all.”

That was it. That was the last straw. Three strikes and you’re out! Kirinji, with every fiber in his body, hoped that the young boy had additional plans because what he had just done, had put the boy in an incredibly unfavorable position. That distrust that Eiji felt towards them, Kirinji felt that exact distrust toward the boy but magnified. There were so many scenarios that could go wrong, They could encounter someone who had a true understanding of gargonite and cause unfathomable devastation. Kirinji couldn’t tell the mobility of the armor, but he knew the mobility and quick-thinking of Eiji very well, especially since in their last combat instance he was captured by a snake. If they were to encounter the Black Powder Bandits, who he had just explained used explosives, Eiji could get caught in them, and the kinetic impact could kill him. There were more, but those two were the first and foremost scenarios that came to mind. In the instance Eiji had begun walking, Kirinji sighed to himself, raising his hand to his face as his index finger and thumb pushed the pressure points at the root of the nose. His goal? Offsetting the inevitable headache. Because he understood what this potentially could mean. Eiji had just become a liability. And no—he was not worth saving. At least not for Kirinji for he would expense no effort in doing so.

It seemed we had both ends of the spectrum when Kasami had summoned forth some clones. Her plan was solid, sending one clone behind us in case we have a threat from there and sending one in front as a precaution. It was ballsy. Kirinji personally wouldn’t have done so, especially with some of the teaching he has had from Izanagi from ages ago. They can be a liability depending on the knowledge of the other. However, they had a major upside. They could be used to waste time, cause diversions, or even be poofed away early so the information could be relayed back to Kasami. In this situation, it had more pros than cons if used correctly. Time will tell if that’s the case. As he watched the clones take off, his mind drifted back to the thought he had beforehand. Eiji had become a liability. In fact, he had been one for some time and Kirinji had made the decision that he would not save him at the potential expense of another or himself. Was this the same with the others? Fortunately, it was not. Kasami and Kirinji had bonded with their encounter at the Lucky Dragon Casino. It seemed closest to death we are at our some vulnerable. Unfortunate that was. Ko and Kirinji had not bonded either, but they were linked in heritage, and he could handle himself. Sentou and Misaho, he was unsure of. Their capabilities were unknown. He hadn’t talked to Sentou much and Misaho was still new, judging her would be unfair. However, from what he knew, Sentou seemed to be somewhat of a hot-head, out of loyalty, which is admirable. But if the incorrect buttons were pressed, it could be a problem. It was wretched. Just young lives and only two of them were worth saving if it were to come down to it. This is where Izanagi and Kirinji differed. Perhaps Izanagi held back in terms of personality, he was unsure, but that wasn’t Kirinji. He’s always been different in comparison to the rest in the sense that he is capable of being completely cold-hearted. He's willing to make sacrifices in order to achieve what needs to be done. Perhaps this was why he was optimal in these sorts of missions.

He smiled at the woman walking beside him as she responded. She was composed well, calm, which was a great sign. Kirinji was swift to respond, ”A fresh start you say? Where are you from?” He asked with curiosity. His eyes shifted off her and scoped out the immediate visual vicinity for potential threats. The deeper they went into Ouka, the more focussed he became. His eyes consistently shifted through the foliage searching for any potential threat. However, he would still continue talking to the woman. His follow-up question, regardless of whether or not she would disclose such information, would be about her entry in Naraka. ”So how did you end up here in Naraka? Were you searching for it or did you just stumble into it?” You could hear the genuine curiosity in Kirinji’s tone. This was also another way to build transparency and bonds between members, but more so, for him, it was about information. It always was. Ko would be able to relate to this. He perhaps may even be already listening. Kirinji would occasionally check in with his teammates through methods outside of verbal. He'd also check on them visually to see how they were doing. Kirinji would bring his chakra levels to an extremely low level and then veil himself with a Yang to hide his position. He had some distance between the others and hoped that incoming enemies would be incapable of sensing him and he could follow up as a surprise.

=In the moment as Eiji sighed in irritation and moved up ahead, there was the briefest moment that Ko stopped and as he passed him he simply stared at the side of his head. Before Ko was a bonified ANBU captain - he was a street kid, and the way that Eiji sighed and moved forward was the type of thing that a street kid like him would typically jump to address, the kind of thing that not only warranted what could be seen as disrespect but a challenge of dominance and reflexively...it rubbed Ko the wrong way. But Ko kept in mind that in order for them to make it they had to put things like that aside, moving forward behind him at the same pace that he had been going before - no more rushed to keep up behind the boy then he would have been to save him if he walked into something. He assumed point man could handle themselves in the state of projected affairs that could transpire before them. Hands in pockets, he continued on - and as he did he could hear the conversation behind him with Kirinji and Misaho, darting his eyes to the cormer as he caught glimpse of Kasami givinng him a smile of clarification to which he only delivered back his best attempt at the same. But that was hard for Ko - he was the type in this particular situation that was more focused on the mission. Ever since he got to Naraka he was shown that the power he had before was not enough, and that there was an entire world of power far beyond what he could have comprehended, and now here he was - cast out on their own into that very same world. Just as he was with the monks back at the compound - he was not keen on sugar coating this in any way at all. The only way that Ko knew for them to get used to this, was pure - raw exposure to the reality of the situation...and the situation was quite dire indeed. Just so would be the demeanor of Ko, as he continued walking and started to zone out on his focus on the path ahead. His sharingan was still active...he saw no reason to deactivate it at this point. Before - in the wakikng world he would keep them off, as a way to avert the typical questions and trying attempts that would follow one of the renown Uchiha clan...but here? This world was full of monsters. The Uchiha clan was just another, if not less than threat to anyone roaming around out here - especially if they were brave or crazy enough to be roaming alone....what was one more anomaly in a world full of aberrations? So he would embrace his heritage fully, embrace the danger ahead, embrace everything that truly was in the most undeniable fashion without any kind of sugar to coat the bitter taste of inevitability...he'd adapt. His eyes were set upon Eiji's back...examining him for a moment, especially thinking about those puncture marks at his neck....he was bitten by that snake - and ever since......hm. His hands in pocket he looked deep upon Eiji....then into Eiji.....then through Eiji....his demeanor and countenance became more and more grim and focus by the moment - you would think he could cut a path straight through the entire forest with how razor sharp his gaze became and before he knew it he was staring straight through the trees with one of the most intimidating, ireful cold gazes that he had ever managed upon anyone ever before...but he looked into nothing - gone into the depths of his mind....when suddenly

...He was set a'blaze...

Or so it felt, he struck down and looked all over his body to find that there was nothing upon him - looking back up to only find his eyes filled with amber tints and his nostrils overwhelmed by the smell of cinnamon and honey. He spiraled looking around himself as he found himself upon a small island in the middle of an oasis - a single tree of deep red leaves at the center by which he stood under and provided him a shade that seemed to look directly past soothing the heat on his skin, and sheltered his very soul from the flames of his mind. The sunset in the distant horizon was perpetual...and so too was its beauty. But the stark change of scenery despite its beauty was still just that...a very stark change and he wondered where in the hell was he? Where was everyone? "You - are a very stubborn one. It took great effort to reach you, an inferno in your mind and heart even before myself. You are of an unusual willpower." A female voice, seeming to speak both delicately and almost stern in a parental fashion called out to him seemingly from every direction...but he knew exactly where to look regardless. He turned and looked directly into the sunset...and despite such it burned not his eyes. His gaze calmed and his eyes narrowed as he realized that only half the light left the sun to be thanked..and the other half was the illumination of the approaching figure itself. He turned his body fully to meet said figure and began to speak: "You were male before...and I believe a dragon....Suzaku."

"What you'd perceived were simply vain reflections of yourself, both the dragon and the voice. As well as the rage that burned within. As I said - you are of a very unusual willpower, and the mask - had shown you more of yourself, rather than of me. It is my joy to come to you now."

=Ko looked upon the image of a vermillion bird...like a phoenix but not quite..it was certainly a creature of its own regard. As he did such he could think of only one thing...as he had thought prior...there were beings of an entirely different power here...and now what he looked upon...a being of just said power...an opportunity, for just said power. Meanwhile in reality, Ko's neck tilted a bit as he stutter stepped - and proceeded on. Just like that the conversation transpired. In his mind, all was said in as leisurely a pace that it needed be said. However in reality it occurred in just a blink. In the back of his mind he thought about the man that had bore the blue flames, Ikki. He was one too. He couldnt help but wonder if thats what it felt like. In his facial countenance his focus never shifted or waivered, so as he continued to look ahead he observed how things looked wavey...his sharingan couldnt quite make it out the right way - but something was off....fluttering...like a heatwave from a stove but not quite...thicker then that. His foot dug the toe into the ground as he stopped hard and growled out under his breath from behind his teeth: "Eiji." the only warning he would receive. He would figure Kirinji would see it too..and hoped that the others would as well and although he could not make out entirely what it was...he would be wary of the almost silken distortion that seemed to span wide across the path in front of them in the forest. He waited for Eiji to stop...or potentially not, while he himself stood at the ready.=

As Eiji put on the shifted puppet and began to walk in front of Ko, he noticed the moment he had walked past Ko, the young Uchiha male stopped for a moment. He could feel his eyes trying to pierce through him though he wasn't sure what he could see, Eiji felt uncomfortable nonetheless. As he did feel uncomfortable and rather he felt like the fact of him taking point would become something he'd be ridiculed on or something that would be held against him later. As such before walking too far forward Eiji shifted out of the puppet armor which took on a more streamlined human form as he ejected himself. Eiji himself moved to the middle of the party though attempting to stay to himself.

As he shifted back he listened to the conversation between Kirinji and Misaho, while also thinking about what Ko was looking at within him or what he was able to see. Before long he heard Ko's voice as he stopped his puppet which was in the lead for a moment attempting to scrutinize the area as closely as possible while preparing himself for whatever may come next. He could only stop as Ko's reaction seemed odd and him speaking Eiji's name or even talking to him was out of the ordinary and different. He hoped there was nothing wrong but was preparing for anything to come.

Kasami didn’t make any mention of the stutter step, nor had she looked his way. As much as she knew that a fault in his step was uncommon for him, she wasn’t going to ask questions or make any comments about it if he wasn’t going to himself. He probably just had a lapse in thoughts or perhaps it was the upcoming potential threat and its recognition in his eyes that created it. It could have been anything, so it was of no cause to worry at that moment, but she did catch it. Her senses were fairly acute and sensitive still after having her hearing repaired only recently and the perception that she was afforded with this powerful eye in her skull was sometimes more of a headache than it was useful- but not at anyone’s fault but her own. Her feet came to a halt not even a second after Ko’s, before he had even said anything to Eiji, and her eyes started moving around them. She couldn’t see like Ko or Kirinji could with the Sharingan, but she might be able to figure out which direction it’s coming from based off the direction of the wind- if whatever substance moved through the air like that. At the mercy of the breeze, and not of its own volition. Regardless it was a checkmark on the list of potential theories. She stood still and looked up toward the branches above them, focusing on a singular leaf in a bushel of green. And it was there that she waited, while assessing other things in the area. She’d had a mind to purge her chakra just in case, precautionary as she searched for any sounds or smells around them.

Up ahead of them, Kasami’s clone stopped half a mile away and perched in the trees, keeping awareness of its surroundings. Her clone behind them also stopped and removed itself from the immediate path of the road, but still lingered within the line of trees and watched it in case anyone started to venture past it toward their group. At the moment these were the only things she could do to help them, and unfortunately nothing more. Without much skill in sensory techniques or its proper utilization she was better off being eyes and ears in as many places as possible.

"Born to blossom, bloom to perish" - 不幸の放浪者
3271ea0a8ebbac30be83e500a75e2d29.png

The more time passed the more Misaho was able to compose herself better. Her continuous fretting was getting a tad annoying to her, how would that help her? Not only that, she didn’t have time to sit in her thoughts anymore because she was conversing with one of her new teammates. He basically snapped her out of her thoughts, perhaps that’s not a bad thing. The woman was too used to silence, too used to avoid any sort of contact with another living being. Very few people knew of her existence, that’s how much she used to distance herself from the waking world back then. Of course, by her own comment, she expected response of curiosity from him. This journey was a fresh start, quite frankly a new lifestyle for her together. ”I mean yeah, I am originally from the waking world… The land of wind to be exact.” As much as her old habit wanted her to respond vaguely, she pushed that desire off and tried to open up a little. This team seemed to have their secrets for one another already, not everyone seemed trusting enough of each other which was also quite nerve-wracking. Who’s to say they trust her enough? She knew nothing of them, and they knew nothing of her. Just a bunch of strangers together who had yet to get to know one another. That made honesty and vulnerability the best option here, if she would keep secrets from them she knew that would raise her chances of danger in the future. With a few moments of silence, Misaho answered his second question, how she even got here. “I wasn’t looking for Naraka. I stumbled in here during one of my travels and on the way, I ran into The Tengu. And well, he brought me here.”

While she walked beside Kirinji, she still took some glances at her surroundings. That is when she caught the stutter steps of Ko, which were movements that caused Misaho to slightly raise her eyebrow in wonder. What followed after a few moments was a sudden halt along with a warning growl towards Eiji. Trouble was in their sights. Misaho too halted her movements and stood still, she assumed that her teammates sensed whatever was on the other side of them as well. Unfortunately, Misaho wasn’t that useful for sensing stuff. The best she could do is be aware of her surroundings' insight up to a certain distance, and pay close attention to any rustling sounds or footsteps that inched closer towards them. What did they pick up? Could it be those horrible hounds? Any other threats? She had hoped that it was just a normal deer or something, but no… this wasn’t the waking world. Should she prepare for the worst-case scenario?

There was a certain manner in which she responded that told a lot. He however did not call it out or make it aware because he did not want to push her. However, Kirinji was taken aback by when she said she had been guided here by the Tengu. Moments before that he was searching around, but when she said that his attention turned towards her. ”Oh? You’ve met the Tengu. How was that?” Kirinji has always had a fascination with the Tengu. Even more, after reading the scrolls he’s found so far. Their lifestyle, their principles, their discipline - it was all admirable.

Not long after, Ko had said Eiji’s name, and everyone had come to a stop. Kirinji glanced onwards and noticed the odd heatwave before them. Instinctually he bit the inside of his lips in case this was an illusion. He had heard of someone in the Waking World that would use a summoning in order to fabricate illusions out of mirages, he hoped this was not one of them. Instead, Kirinji moved out toward the side so he was no longer near Misaho, spectating as he communicated with Ko. ”What do you think it is? I can’t make it out myself, unfortunately.” As he spoke he glanced over at Kasami, who he knew had a clone up there somewhere, so he was merely checking if she had some information to share. At this time, it may be best to see what was about to come to fruition.

-In the moment, when Kirinji started to move around and out to the side Ko would have reached his hand backwards and with an open palm give him a signal as if he was shaking his hand side to side to say "No."...he was being very still and very careful, he didnt want to move - and he most certainly did not want to talk or breath to heavy at this close vicinity to it. He started to move backwards as slowly and softly as possible - which was no difficult feat for someone like him especially considering most the work that he did in ANBU was either head-hunting or sabotage...but the moment that he got back enough if one could tell the direction that his eyes were going they would see that he started to look upwards...but hesitated and acted against it, swallowing hard as you could tell he began to pacify himself by his facial expression hardening, his jaw clenching as his eyes narrowed. By this point, clues would start coming into perception. Kirinji and the others listening for rustling, would be met with that very sound - rustling, a hard scratchy rusling coming from up above followed by a sticky chirping of some sort. Kasami however had inadvertently scrutinized two things that would give her the answers they sought directly. One was being the wind direction - which would show that whatever this was, had somewhat been trailing back away from Ko; the wind at their backs this would telegraph that whatever this was...was thin enough to be blown by the wind. That very same leaf that she had been looking at trailing over Ko's shoulder into the glistening until finally...it got stuck...and started to burn away...acid. The second part would be privy to anyone that had done the same as her, the opposite of what Ko decided to do - and looked up. Ko knew what it was...but he didnt want to disturb or provoke it at this point and he knew that in his case? If he looked at it right now and his assertion was correct he would freak out. One word would ever lightly come from Ko's lips and be confirmed by Kasami's eyes:

"Spider."

=And just so what would be awaiting in the refuse of the greenery above would be a gigantic green spider, about the size of a dump truck. The spider was there suspended above them, cleaning its sharp mandibles with fidgeting hairy pincers as it remain perfectly intact up above them. Not yet descending towards perceived prey but oh so definitely aware of its potential presence. The spider looked like it was poised to pounce, its bulbous spined back festering and jittering in anticipation as Ko backed up and away. He knew that spiders detected prey better in its web, and that being caught in it was all the incentive that it needed to strike. As if he needed any more motivation - as it was now pretty obvious that its web was acidic as well. Ko looked up at the insect, a light cringe in his face...he hated spiders. But he stared it down to secure his retreat from the path through the web - making sure that he watched it carefully as he did to see if his movement was safe or if he needed to defend himself. As he did such he would begin to speak lowly to the others so not to provoke the creature with any loud sounds: "Might I suggest that we, move through the woods - ya know, around the gigantic nasty bug."

Blissful unawareness was sometimes such a gift. She’d have preferred it remain that way, watching that leaf and basking in the seeming tranquility of nature around them, but eyes had a funny way of refocusing at the slightest of movement in the background. At first that leaf was all encompassing in her vision, honed in on it like it was a spec of sand a mile away, while everything else in its vicinity was a blur. At first she only heard the sounds, anticipating them to be a little further away, but then there was something behind the leaf. Up into the trees hiding in the canopy, and quite frankly she’d have figured a spider wasn’t an out of the question beast for them to face- but its sheer size wasn’t what she expected. It was probably as big as her small little flat was in Konoha, which was small in comparison to most- but for a bug that was too fucking big.

Kasami stopped breathing, which sounded almost shaky in itself with the fear that vice gripped her chest, but it was so she didn’t make any sounds. Don’t scream, don’t gasp- nothing. Be silent, as an omen of death stares into your soul with its many eyes. By this point Ko had already started to back away quietly and once he was out of her peripheral she decided to as well, careful of her feet and mindful of its webbing. She never took her eyes off of it, reaching one hand behind her slowly into her pouch to grab hold of one of her special senbon. Her other hand moved to the back of Eiji’s shirt as she moved back past him, pulling light enough to get him to move while still allowing him to get his own footing. She didn’t pull too hard for risk of shaking his balance or causing him to stumble.

It wasn’t necessarily that she felt the need to protect him, considering at the moment she was on the fence about trusting people in general, but if he didn’t move and agitated the spider more- it’d be a problem for them all. It was better to remove him from the situation with them, cause a small little boy was not a hearty enough meal for such a beast. Kasami was, however, prepared to act immediately should she need it, and her second clone would be catching up with them from behind soon if they got into a conflict. While doing all of this Kasami still managed to mentally flip through the pages of every book she’d read the night before as she searched for any potentially useful information when it came to this particularly hideous arachnid and its peculiarities. Hopefully they wouldn’t need it, but if they did she might have something up her sleeve.
